The Broodings of a Bright Mind

Hi all,

Bret and I were talking the other night, and I mentioned about a PC program that installs on to your computer when you install games on to your computer. So I thought that I would mention it here to let you all know. The program is called StarForce it's a anti-piracy program, developed by a russian software company. The program is included with PC games, the game publishers include the software with the games so you cant copy the game's. How the program works is, it installs four drivers for your CD or DVD drive. The program then check CD's as you use them to see if they are original discs. The problem that comes with this after is after time the drivers cause your CD drive to run slower and slower. When the problem first starts you will have a hard time burning discs. Then after that it all goes down hill from there. There is a program that you can run that uninstalls the program, you can find it here. http://www.onlinesecurity-on.com/
The game publisher that you have to watch out for the most is Ubisoft. Just thought I would put this out F.Y.I

Anyone want my old cd/dvd drive, this problem happened to mine (I play a lot of Ubisoft games) and now it won't load anything.
